On 04/24/2009 the field was fertilized based on the results from the soil samples that were taken and analyzed by the State of Mississippi.

700 lbs of ammonia nitrate and potash fertilizer was purchased from Circle T Farm Supply (1817 Highway 26 W, Poplarville, MS 39470, (601) 795-2506). The Farm Supply store let us use their “buggy” at no charge.   There is a tool for every job, and the “Buggy” was the perfect tool to spread this fertilizer.  The “buggy” throws a path 12 feet on either side of center. I found the optimum pulling speed while spreading to be 3-4 mph. we had the “gate” that determines how much fertilizer is spread a little less than the farm supply store recommended.

With just a few passes down the field we had covered the entire runway and the pits.  And we still had half the fertilizer left.  So we made some more passes down the runway and filled in some spots that did not get as much.

In addition Jim put down some additional ant poison and put the remaining ant poison in the storage under the center table in the pits.

Hopefully the grass will be a little greener now…
